Refresher Training Course in Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats (STCW)

OBJECTIVE

The aim of the course is to enable seafarers to demonstrate continued proficiency in the operation of Fast Rescue Boats/Craft in accordance with STCW  Section A-VI/2, paragraph 11.  This course meets the requirements of Transport Canada’s REF-FRC.

  • FRB Operations

  • Maneuvering FRB

  • Capsize and Recovery

  • Search Patterns and Rescue

Simulation-Based Practical Training Exercises

  • Perform Pre-Launch and Pre-Recovery Checks

  • Operate a Launching Davit and Manage a Painter

  • Launch and Recover a FRB from a Vessel

  • Steer visually and by Compass

  • Execute a Search Pattern

  • Recover a Person-in-Water

  • Tow Liferafts and other Vessels

  • Pace another Vessel

  • Operate under a Helicopter

  • Emergency Radio Communications

DURATION:

  • 6 ½ hours / per candidate

  • 3 ½  hours of lecture

  • 2 ½  hours of simulation exercises / per candidate

  • ½   hour in-water pool session

TRAINING LOCATION:  Canada - 47 Bremigen’s Blvd, Paradise, NL

VALIDITY: Five (5) Years
