SAFER TRAINING AND VIRTUAL MARINE ANNOUNCE OFFICIAL OPENING OF SIMULATION TRAINING FACILITY IN ABERDEEN

St. John’s, NL, Canada & Aberdeen, United Kingdom- August 28, 2019

Ian McMillin, Managing Director of SAFER Training Scotland Ltd. and Capt. Anthony Patterson, President and CEO of Virtual Marine announce the official opening of SAFER’s Simulation Training Facility in Aberdeen. This state of the art facility is strategically located near Aberdeen airport, providing easy access to the industry.

SAFER Training Scotland Ltd a UK based company and Virtual Marine a Canadian based company have developed a Lifeboat Coxswains programme that is suitable for the Offshore Oil, Gas and Shipping industries. The programme is aimed at the further training of coxswains via an innovative state of the art lifeboat simulator approved by international industry standards.

The simulator allows more effective, efficient, realistic, risk-free, lifeboat training for the Offshore and Maritime workforces; this means employees can be better prepared for emergency situations without running the risk of injury or life to the lifeboat operators. Rather than releasing a lifeboat from height and allowing it to be lowered / dive into the water – a common means of escape from vessels and offshore installations, but one which risks injury to those inside – the simulator allows people to train in an accurate copy of reality that is 100% secure and is more efficient, because it can be reset again and again.

SAFER Training and Virtual Marine will be hosting an Official Grand Opening on Friday, September 6th from 1200-1600 at the new simulation facility, Unit 22 Robert Leonard Centre Aberdeen,Scotland, UK AB21 0GG. Special guests and officials will be present at 1430 to cut the official ribbon. Media and industry professionals are invited to visit the facility throughout the afternoon and can RSVP to Allison Crawford or Andy Reid (contact information below).

From September 3rd through 5th, SAFER Training, Virtual Marine and City of Glasgow College will be showcasing an Immersive Cabin Lifeboat Simulator along with a Virtual Reality Fast Rescue Craft experience at SPE Offshore Europe at Stand 1AB52.
